Abstract:
This study explores the impact of some individual and environmental determinants on the publication performance of Turkish economics academicians using cross-sectional data. The present study results show that only two of the variables employed, Institutional Control and Academic Origin, were found to be signifi cant, which implies that working at a private university and holding a PhD from abroad, more specifi cally from the US, have a positive impact on the publication performance of Turkish economics academicians. Results also show that male researchers’ productivity follows an inverted U-shaped (life-cycle) pattern.
